165,000 vacancies at ministry’s Jobs Malaysia

KUANTAN: There are over 165,000 vacancies offered under the Human Resources Ministry’s online job matching service - Jobs Malaysia.

The jobs include middle and top management posts, factory operators and general workers, while direct selling businesses also require personnel.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Maznah Mazlan said that 110,000 job seekers who were registered with the portal (www.jobsmalaysia.gov.my) had gained employment last year.

“This year alone, 30,000 people obtained jobs through the portal while there are still 165,178 jobs available.

“This shows that the system, as well as other schemes introduced by the ministry, has been effective in finding suitable jobs for the job seekers,” she told reporters after opening a job fair at Indera Mahkota here yesterday.

Maznah also said that the ministry planned to set up more Jobs Malaysia centres nationwide.

“Officers and staff manning the centres will help those who don’t have computers and Internet services in their areas,” she said, adding that currently there were 12 such centres in the country.

Earlier in her speech, Maznah advised job seekers, especially degree holders, not to be too choosy and grab any opportunity even if it did not match their qualifications.

“Stop making excuses. The most important thing is to gain experience,” she added.

She also said the ministry had been working with the Welfare Department in finding jobs for those who came under the hardcore poor category.

On the job fair, Maznah said more than 2,700 jobs were being offered by 40 employers in the state.

The salary ranged from RM700 to RM4,000 a month, she added.
