KUALA TERENGGANU: Employers are urged to enhance their standard operating procedures on workers' safety.
Commenting on the fire at the Petronas gas processing plant in Kertih near here last week, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said SOP centres on safety must be a priority for every company.
"The safety of the workers must always be top priority. A higher standard operating procedure will ensure that tragedies at the work place do not occur," he said.
Dr Subramaniam was speaking to reporters after visiting the 35 workers who were injured in the incident. A contract worker was killed in the fire on May 9.
