SEBERANG PERAI, 20 November 2014 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), in collaboration with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), today hosted the final Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) of the year at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Nibong Tebal campus, focusing on the engineering sector.
SFCF USM aims to educate the public, particularly students, on the internship opportunities and career paths available under one of Malaysia’s priority sectors. The fair also provides an opportunity for the 50 chosen employers present – such as Agilent, Celcom Axiata, Freescale Semiconductor, MARA Aerospace & Technologies, Prasarana and Sime Darby - to scout for potential talents from universities in Malaysia.
“The SFCF brings industry along with the available career opportunities closer to the university, and helps them engage and share their aspirations directly with our students,” said YBhg Professor Dato’ Dr Omar Osman, Vice Chancellor of USM, in the spirit of fostering greater industry academia collaboration as called for by the Prime Minister in his Budget 2015 speech.
Graduates and undergraduates will be also able to participate in activities such as Coffee Talk and Career Talk sessions, which enable participants to engage casually with corporate leaders and senior human resource representatives of participating companies.
“TalentCorp’s collaboration with MIDA for SFCF USM is to ensure we expose our young Malaysian engineering talent to the jobs of the future with our leading high technology industry players,” said Johan Mahmood Merican, CEO of TalentCorp.
