KLANG: Enter the executive aide-de-camp (EADC).
CEOs and tycoons can soon get more than just protection with a new batch of specially selected individuals being trained to provide security and also double up as a personal assistant (PA).
Besides being taught to handle firearms, trainees will be honed on defensive driving and close protection/combat skills with additional emphasis on etiquette and management skills.
This service is being pioneered by Chico Force Sdn Bhd, with top-notch private sector officials and the police already giving the thumbs up.
Chico Force head of project Niho Khoo said there was a “ready demand” for the services of an EADC.
“We have identified more than 200 candidates with the correct temperament and aptitude for the job. Only those who are up to the mark can get in as they will be serving CEOs and high-ranking officials,’’ she said, adding that a degree was the minimum requirement.
Niho said an EADC would command good remuneration with the extra responsibility of being a PA.
Chico Force CEO Datuk Seri Junior Khoo said he had made two trips to London to discuss the latest developments in the security business with renowned companies based there, adding that he had mooted the idea of the EADC during discussions there.
“The EADC will add more value to the job,’’ he said.
Malaysian Federation of Chinese Associa-tions (Hua Zong) president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah, who is Perwaja Holdings Bhd managing director, said he would be among the first to hire an EADC.
Salcon Bhd deputy chairman Tan Sri Tee Tiam Lee said there was a definite need for the EADC as the country modernised and the national economy progressed.
“This venture portrays the growth of our security services industry and the rise of our business sector,’’ he said.
South Klang police chief Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat also gave the thumbs up, describing it as a boost for security services.
“It is always good for the private security services sector to be innovative and pave the way for change,’’ he added.
